Dr. Geneviève Moineau, MD, FRCPC, is President and CEO of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC).

The AFMC is the academic partnership of Canada’s faculties of medicine, whose mission is to achieve excellence in education, research and care for the health of all Canadians, through collective leadership, expertise and advocacy.

Dr. Moineau is an MD graduate of the University of Ottawa and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. She is on faculty in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Ottawa where she holds the rank of Associate Professor, and practices Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

john norciniJohn Norcini

Dr. Norcini became FAIMER’s first President and Chief Executive Officer in May 2002. Before joining FAIMER, Dr. Norcini spent 25 years with the American Board of Internal Medicine serving in various capacities, including Director of Psychometrics, Executive Vice President for Evaluation and Research, and finally, Executive Vice President of the Institute for Clinical Evaluation. He earned his B.A. degree from LaSalle University and his Ph.D. degree from Bryn Mawr College.

Dr. Norcini’s principal academic interest is the assessment of physician performance. Current major research interests include methods for setting standards, assessing practice performance, and testing professional competence. His research also focuses on physician migration and workforce issues, as well as the impact of international medical graduates on the U.S. health care system. Dr. Norcini serves on the editorial boards of five peer-reviewed journals in measurement and medical education, has lectured and taught in dozens of countries, and has published extensively.

 

john prescottJohn Prescott

As chief academic officer, John E. Prescott, MD, oversees AAMC efforts that prepare and assist deans, faculty leaders, and future physicians for the challenges of 21st century academic medicine. He leads a staff that addresses critical medical school data, administrative, and operational issues; explores new models of successful mission alignment; focuses on key student and faculty issues, and supports medical school accreditation activities.

Prior to joining the AAMC in 2008, Dr. Prescott served as dean of the West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, president and CEO of its faculty practice plan and founding chair of its Department of Emergency Medicine. Before WVU, he was a military physician in the Army for eight years. Dr. Prescott earned his medical and bachelor’s degrees from Georgetown University.

Julie Hewett, owner of JulNet Solutions, is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelors Degree in Entrepreneurial Management. She has over 25 years of office management experience working with small organizations in the services and manufacturing industries. This broad work experience allowed Julie to develop JulNet Solutions, offering management support services to small businesses, entrepreneurs, and eventually professional non-profit associations.
 
Since 1998 Julie has been involved in IAMSE for Association Management and Meeting Planning. In 2010 JulNet Solutions got involved in the production of IAMSE’s online journal Medical Science Educator, and her office now offers Editorial Manager Support for the Editor-in-Chief.

Peter de Jong is a Technology Enhanced Learning staff adviser at the Leiden University Medical Center in The Netherlands. In this position at the Center for Innovation in Medical Education, he has been managing several major programs within Medical School in the field of development, application and evaluation of educational technologies. Peter has a Master degree in Medical Technology from Eindhoven University and a PhD in Biophysics/Physiology from Maastricht University. He has been a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Netherlands Association for Medical Education (NVMO), he has been Chair of their national Special Interest Group on E-learning in Medicine and he chaired the 2000 NVMO Annual Meeting.
 
Since 2007 Peter is involved in the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE), an international organization with a focus on advancing medical education through faculty development while ensuring that the teaching and learning of medicine continues to be firmly grounded in science. He has served the organization as Vice President, and in 2009 as Program Chair and Site Host for the first IAMSE Annual Meeting outside of North America. Currently he holds the position of Editor-in-Chief of Medical Science Educator, the online journal of IAMSE.
